Winnipeg, MB- At 8:13 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of fire at a four-storey apartment building in the 700 block of Wolseley Avenue.
Crews entered the building when they arrived on scene and encountered heavy smoke inside. Firefighters launched an offensive fire attack, declaring it under control at 8:59 a.m.
Residents of the building evacuated before crews arrived on scene. There were no injuries reported.
Some residents will be able to return to their suites after firefighters finish ventilating the building.
However, some residents won't be able to return to their suites due to smoke damage. The City of Winnipeg's Emergency Social Services teamwas called to help the displaced residents find temporary accommodations.
Damage estimates are not available at this time. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
