The Oklahoma State University Society of Petroleum Engineers was recently awarded the 2024 Presidential Award for Outstanding Student Chapter, in the Engaging, Retaining and Growing Membership category for the A size group.

This prestigious award is only granted to 10% of applicants from SPE student chapters around the world.

It recognizes that OSU students go above and beyond when serving the SPE mission: to connect a global community of engineers, scientists and related energy professionals to exchange knowledge, innovate and advance their technical and professional competence regarding the exploration, development and production of oil and gas and related energy sources to achieve a safe, secure and sustainable energy future(Society of Petroleum Engineers 2024).

"SPE OSU could not have achieved this without the support and encouragement we get from you, our astute faculty and advisors," said Israel Momoh, OSU petroleum engineering graduate student and SPE president. "To Dr. Prem, Dr. Lee, the past officers of the society, and all who have contributed to this success of this achievement, we are grateful."

Dr. Prem Bikkina, associate professor and director of the petroleum engineering program was the past chapter advisor and Dr. Hunjoo Lee, assistant professor of petroleum engineering is the current chapter advisor.

The SPE chapter is supported by industry partners and alumni who give their time and resources to help it succeed.

For the upcoming year, Bikkina looks forward to seeing the SPE chapter continue its legacy of excellence.

"Your efforts are crucial to maintaining the high standards we have set, and I am confident in your ability to lead us to further success," Bikkina said.
