UNF to host public policy discussion “TikTok on Trial: The Future of Social Media Regulation”

The University of North Florida will host a free and open-to-the-public Diverse Perspectives Series event, "TikTok on Trial: The Future of Social Media Regulation." The discussion will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 16 in the Robinson Theater.

TikTok has more than a billion active users, the highest engagement rate and the greatest usage time of any social media platform. Hear from experts including Cord Byrd, Florida Secretary of State; Andrew Spar, presented of the Florida Education Association; and Julie Shi, UNF assistant professor of public administration, on how the U.S. should confront the privacy, security and public policy challenges of social media regulation.

The public can ask questions and share their thoughts during the event.

UNF's Office of Public Policy Eventshosts at least two events each semester that bring the campus and community together to discuss and debate important and timely issues from diverse perspectives.
