I thought you Retired

An update from a Federal Ammunition retiree

"I thought you retired."

That's what I hear every time my friends see me on the production floor or in the company store picking up donations.

Yes, I retired six years ago after 35 great years with Federal, however, my involvement with Federal and several Minnesota military charities continues every year, and for nine years Federal's support has been nothing short of amazing.

Each year I work with 26 military events/fundraisers with the "Vietnam Veterans of America," "Honor Flight Twin Cities," "Camp Ripley Youth Shooting," "Disabled American Veterans," "Paralyzed Veterans of America," "Camp Ripley Norwegian Soldier Exchange," "Shoot for the Troops," "MN Military Family Foundations," "MN Military Radio Show," "Commanders Task Force," "Tribute to the Troops," "Haven for Heroes," "Veterans Memorial Park" in Blaine, and the Memorial Day and Veterans Day programs and flyovers.

This year Federal also provided support for the new "MN Medal of Honor Memorial Commemoration," and "Veterans on the Lake" by outfitting a newly built cabin with equipment designed to accommodate our paralyzed veterans.

In addition, Federal has been supporting John Zajac from our Quality Department with "Veteran's Fishing for Life," our employee/vendor Technical Open Golf event becoming a fundraiser for the "Minnesota Military Family Foundation," and for 10 years supporting Sue Asmus from Accounting, with the "Hugo Beyond the Yellow Ribbon's Welcome Home Pheasant Hunt" for our returning MN deployed soldiers.

On behalf of the hundreds of soldiers and their families being helped each year, I want to say thank you to the employees, family members, and vendors for your continued participation and support. You can be proud of Federal's reputation with these military organizations, and equally proud of our newly commemorated Federal Military Flag Memorial on our grounds.

You're not just making a difference… you're saving lives.
