EVANSTON, Ill. ---For the first time, Northwestern University Library is showcasing dozens of items from the one-of-a-kind Garry Marshall Collection, documenting the life and work of the legendary TV and film writer, director and producer. This public exhibition offers a rare opportunity to explore the historic career of Marshall '56, a Northwestern alum who passed away in 2016.

Best known for creating iconic sitcoms like "Happy Days," "Laverne & Shirley" and "Mork & Mindy," as well as directing blockbuster films such as "Pretty Woman" and "The Princess Diaries," Garry Marshall's contributions to entertainment continue to shape audiences around the world.

EXHIBITION DETAILS:

The Garry Marshall Collection features scripts, props, costumes, correspondences and pop-culture memorabilia from his long-standing career. Additionally, on Friday, Nov. 15, members of Garry Marshall's family will attend a public reception from 3 to 5 p.m. at the library. They will be available to speak with media on his enduring legacy in television and film and the family's donation to Northwestern.

Exhibition viewing hours: weekdays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., weekends, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

WHY:This exclusive exhibition grants the media a unique view of Garry Marshall's personal collection, offering an intimate look at Hollywood history through the lens of one of its most celebrated creators.
