Emergency Flood Repairs to Begin on Little Pine Creek Road in Lycoming County

Montoursville, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources provides an update on Little Pine Creek Road (Route 4001) and Little Pine State Park in Cummings Township, Lycoming County.

Emergency Repairs
On Friday, August 23, 2024 through Sunday, August 25, 2024, the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, will be mobilizing equipment from the southern side of Little Pine Creek Road to begin emergency repairs.

The week of Monday, August 26, 2024, the contractor will begin emergency repairs on the Carsontown Bridge. Work includes constructing an access road to perform underpinning and will install rock scour protection at pier 1. Additional work includes base repairs to the roadway, pipe and ditch cleaning, debris and deposition removal, and stabilization of the slope and shoulder areas.

Glenn O. Hawbaker is the prime contractor for this emergency flood repair project. Work includes repairing the substructure of the three-span Carsontown Bridge, full depth roadway reconstruction, slope and scour protection, debris and deposition removal, guiderail resetting, base repairs and shoulder backup.

Little Pine State Park
With the exception of the campground and Lower Picnic Area, all facilities at Little Pine State Park are closed. This closure includes the Park Office, Shooting Range, Archery Range, Eagle Watch Area, Day Use Area, Boat Launch, and Beach Area. The beach and boat concession will be closed for the remainder of the season. Boating is not permitted. For additional information, please visit Little Pine State Park or call 570-753-6000.

Traffic Impacts

  • Little Pine Creek Road is closed between the Little Pine Dam in Cummings Township and English Center in Pine Township. A detour using Route 287, Route 973, and Route 44 is in place.
  • Motorists who are traveling to the Little Pine State Park Campground using Route 287 south should use Route 287, Route 973, Route 44, and Little Pine Creek Road.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel and drive with caution.

Anyone who drives around barriers intended to close a road can face increased penalties if emergency responders are called to rescue motorists who disregard traffic control signs.
