A 1 Anti Crime Unit Arrested Package Theft Suspect

At about 7:58 PM, on Monday, July 29, 2024, officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit of District A-1 (Downtown) arrested David Loughran, 36, of Stoneham, on breaking and entering charges.

Officers responded to the area of 224 Hanover Street for a report of a larceny in progress. Boston Police Operations provided officers with a description of a suspect seen stealing packages. As officers arrived on scene, they observed a suspect matching the description.

Officers recognized the suspect and were aware that the he had two active arrest warrants. As officers exited their cruiser, the suspect began to run and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect in the area of the Greenway and Surface Street. Officers recovered an unopened package, and a pair of pliers. As officers searched the suspect, officers also recovered multiple loose pills from his left pant pocket.

The suspect had two warrants issued out of Boston Municipal Court for charges of B&E Daytime for Felony, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Class B, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.

Loughran was placed under arrest and charged with Breaking and Entering Daytime for Felony, Larceny from a Building, Possession of Burglarious Tools, Possession of Class E, and Resisting Arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
