At Home with Merle Burleigh – September 11, 2024

MERLE'S CORNER

The loud and unique horn of Big Boy 1410 steam engine announced its arrival through West Chicago Monday, Sept. 9, 2024. It was tracking down the rails at a fast speed. I watched it from my balcony. Some were watching near the 1912 C&NW depot. many taking photographs.I imagine the train buffs, using their expensive cameras, have some great pictures. The helicopter flying above it was getting another view. Although it did not stop here, we enjoyed seeing the big engine again. It must be a wonderful experience to be a passenger on the American Heartland Tour.
