"Musei Italiani", the official app of the National Museum System, was presented today at the Ministry of Culture, in the presence of Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano and General Manager of Museums, Massimo Osanna. The app is linked to the platform that allows users to learn, explore, and securely purchase entrance tickets to cultural sites throughout the country. The application is celebrating the first anniversary since its initial release, making this a symbolic occasion to promote awareness and usage, as well as to take stock of the results achieved and its future prospects.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Almaviva developed the software to manage ticket sales for nearly 5,000 Italian museums and cultural sites affiliated with the National Museum System. The project, which debuted with the Pantheon, the most visited cultural site in Italy with 9 million visitors annually, has gradually brought many other sites on board, these too adopting the solution provided by the MIC and enhancing their range of options through a unified, accessible, and sustainable system. Musei Italiani now manages 208 museums, going from about 3,600 tickets managed per day in the first month of operation to almost 20,000 tickets in June 2024.

In addition to the e-ticketing platform, Almaviva has developed an authentication system, an internet portal for ticket purchases, an application that museum curators and the general directorate of museums can use to configure offers, and a set of APIs for interoperability with external devices such as physical ticket counters and kiosks for purchasing tickets at museum entrances.
