As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • No-Hit Shooting - 200 Block of 56th Street: On Sept. 15, 2024 at approximately 7:45 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of 56th Street regarding a shots call. Officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. The suspects(s) fled the scene prior to officers' arrival. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. No injuries were reported.

  • Hit Shooting - 1200 Block of Hoffman Avenue: On Sept. 15, 2024 at approximately 10:10 p.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Hoffman Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a superficial gunshot wound to the lower body from a ricocheted bullet. The victim declined medical treatment at the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim and a male adult suspect were in a dispute which escalated when the suspect discharged a firearm. The suspect was arrested and identified as Manuel Jesus Gonzales, a 31-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked for assault with a deadly weapon. Bail is set at $30,000. No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
