McCaul Calls for the Resignation of Secret Service Director Cheatle Following Site Visit

BUTLER, Pennsylvania - Today, Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) - chairman emeritus of the House Homeland Security Committee - issued the following statement after joining Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-Tenn.) and a bipartisan delegation to visit the site of President Trump's attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania. The United States Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has not visited the rally site.

"I stood at the same spot where the would-be assassin was perched that day with his rifle, and I could not believe how close it was to where President Trump spoke. Thomas Crooks should never have been allowed on that roof. The Secret Service has a 'zero fail mission,' but Director Cheatle has admitted that her agency failed that day. Director Cheatle is clearly not fit to lead the agency, and she should resign immediately."
