On June 8, 2024, a Taiwan-registered oil tanker, TONG YUN (IMO No. 9566356), with a gross tonnage of 28410, meeting with a Liberian-registered bulk carrier, FPMC B FOREVER (IMO No. 9445253), with a gross tonnage of 94710 at the traffic lane of Kaohsiung port. After the meeting, the oil tanker's starboard side contacted the offshore breakwater of Kaohsiung port No.2 entrance, causing damage to both the hull and the breakwater. No casualties or environmental pollution resulted from this occurrence.

The Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) classified this event as a major marine occurrence per the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act and referenced the Casualty Investigation Code of the International Maritime Organization(IMO). The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned, and an investigation team was launched to conduct the investigation.
