On November 7, following the Napa Chamber of Commerce's Economic Outlook Conference, the Solano-Napa Small Business Development Center (SBDC) hosted an Access to Capital event at Redwood Credit Union. The free event featured a diverse panel of five lenders specializing in traditional and non-traditional financing. The event's goals were to provide an overview of available loans and services, help small businesses become loan-ready and address individual questions.
With about 30 small business owners in attendance, the event revealed valuable insights about lending practices. One of the key takeaways was that the small business lending community is tight-knit, frequently collaborating to find solutions and connect business owners with the right lending partner. The panel emphasized a crucial piece of advice: rather than submitting online applications and waiting, business owners should proactively engage with lenders directly or partner with the SBDC for guidance.
The Access to Capital event is a great example of the impactful work the Solano-Napa SBDC does to empower local businesses and strengthen our economy. As we reflect on this success, we also recognize the tremendous contributions of SBDC Director Tim Murrill, who will retire at the end of the year. Over the past six years, Tim's leadership has been instrumental in supporting Napa's business community, fostering collaboration and helping countless local small businesses thrive. We've been privileged to work closely with him and his team, and we wish him the very best in his 'rewire-ment'!
Events like this and the partnerships they foster underscore Napa's commitment to creating an environment where businesses can access the resources, guidance and connections they need to succeed.
