American Red Cross thanks Lowe’s and its customers for support as disasters become more frequent and intense

The American Red Cross recognizes Lowe's, headquartered in Mooresville, N.C., for its longstanding membership in the Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP). Lowe's has supported Red Cross disaster relief for several decades, helping ensure the organization is prepared to meet the needs of people affected by disasters big and small across the U.S.

Generous donations from ADGP members like Lowe's - along with its associates and customers - help the organization respond immediately in times of need through financial and in-kind donations in advance of disasters. The Red Cross relies on these proactive donations to help provide safe shelter, meals, emotional support and resources to aid in recovery.

Lowe's customers can also support the Red Cross by rounding up their transaction to the nearest whole dollar at checkout in Lowe's stores through Nov. 3. These donations enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters across the U.S.

"I'm inspired by Annual Disaster Giving Program members like Lowe's that make it possible for us to support those in need at a moment's notice," said Cliff Holtz, president and CEO of the American Red Cross. "Families are relying on the Red Cross more than ever as disasters become more frequent and intense, and generous partners like Lowe's help us prepare for the worst and provide relief when the unthinkable happens."

The Red Cross responds to more than 65,000 disasters across the country every year - mobilizing a team every eight minutes - providing relief, comfort and hope to people during what can be the worst days of their lives. As large disasters like wildfires, floods and hurricanes occur more often and with greater severity, donations fuel Red Cross readiness and build its response capacity in times of crisis.

"Lowe's and our associates are committed to helping our neighbors before, during and after disasters of all sizes," said Margi Vagell, Lowe's executive vice president of supply chain. "Leading Lowe's disaster response, I see the critical role the Red Cross plays for communities every day as they plan for and recover from disasters. We are proud to continue our partnership and help our customers support the Red Cross and its important work."

Donations also support basic needs for families affected by home fires - which comprise the bulk of Red Cross response efforts - and help ensure the Red Cross can continue educating people nationwide about disaster preparedness so they can cope with crises in their communities.
