Kentucky Lockheed Martin Members Win Strong First Agreement

More than 300 IAM Local 219 (District 1888) members at Lockheed Martin at Bluegrass Station near Lexington, Ky., voted to ratify their first agreement recently. The new four-year deal comes on the heels of their recent successful organizing campaign.

Lockheed Martin employees' decision to join the IAM highlights the growing momentum at Bluegrass Station among workers seeking fair treatment and security under the Service Contract Act (SCA).

The new agreement features wage increases of 4%, 3%, 3.5% and 3.5% over the agreement's life and a more than $1 increase for health and welfare.

"By coming together, our new members at Bluegrass Station have secured a future of fair wages, better benefits, and a stronger voice in their workplace," said IAM Southern Territory General Vice President Craig Martin. "This new contract is a testament to the power of unity and the importance of standing up for what's right."

"These new members understood that an IAM contract was a step toward ensuring fair wages, better benefits, and a stronger voice in their workplace," said IAM District 1888 Business Representative and Organizer Ryan McCarthy. "The new agreement features a true company cost share for medical plans of 50% paid by Lockheed Martin, which will put hundreds of dollars back in the pocket of the employees each month."

The members of IAM Local 219 stationed at Bluegrass Station are an integral part of ensuring the seamless functioning of base operations, with a focus on providing essential supplies for U.S. Army Special Forces units.
