Small-business owners will have an opportunity to continue making their businesses safer online Thursday, Nov. 14.
Paul Johnson and Jim Drever will lead a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network webinar titled "Create a Cybersecurity Plan in In One Hour: Advanced Topics" from noon-1 p.m. To register, go here. Registration is free. This training is a continuation of an Oct. 24 webinar.
The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by the University of Wyoming with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The webinar will tackle issues, including artificial intelligence/deepfakes, router security and file encryption. Speakers will guide small-business owners to complete a workbook that becomes a continuation of the cybersecurity plan they built during the October webinar.
Johnson is manager of the Wyoming SBDC Network's Cybersecurity Program.
Drever is the Wyoming SBDC Network regional director for Albany and Carbon counties. Previously, he was a marketing director and project manager at a software company, had a small consulting business and recently co-founded CyberWyoming with the Made Safe in Wyoming program.
Drever has been a source for cybersecurity for small businesses in The Wall Street Journal and has presented on the topic at national conferences. Beyond general business assistance, Drever specializes in e-marketing, e-commerce and risk management, especially cybersecurity. He is a certified ethical hacker and has a chief information security officer specialist certification with a background in vulnerability assessment, ethical hacking and cybersecurity risk assessment and management. He assists and advises clients about cybersecurity statewide.
Attendees also will receive a one-on-one advising session with an SBDC cybersecurity adviser after the webinar to review plans, provide feedback and answer questions specific to their businesses.
