LPD Releases Back-to-School Traffic Safety Project Results

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) today released the results of the Back-to-School Traffic Safety Enforcement Project conducted Monday, August 12, through Friday, August 30.

Funded by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation-Highway Safety Office, the project provided overtime for officers to focus on traffic enforcement around Lincoln schools.

Total results are as follows:

Traffic stops conducted 347
Official citations issued 390
Warnings issued 86

The highest speed violation written was 32 MPH over the posted limit in an active school zone. Officers reported the highest speed observed and stopped each day which averaged at 18 MPH above the posted limit.
