PPL Foundation calls for nominations for STEM Educator Awards

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 4, 2024) - The PPL Foundation today opened calls for the public to nominate a teacher for a STEM Educator Award, a competitive grant program that recognizes educators who engage students in science, technology, engineering and math.

The awards honor teachers who have demonstrated success in designing and enhancing student-centered STEM learning to develop the next generation of innovative thinkers.

"Supporting STEM education is vital to the success of our communities and the workforce of tomorrow," said Lissette Santana, president, PPL Foundation. "We are passionate about education and excited to celebrate teachers who light up their students' imagination and interest in the key subjects of science, technology, engineering and math."

One outstanding classroom science teacher (K-12) will receive $2,500 for classroom supplies and professional development. Three teachers, one from each level - elementary school, middle school and high school - will receive $1,500 each for classroom supplies.

Nominees and applicants for the PPL Foundation STEM Educator Award must be full-time K-12 teachers with at least three years of teaching experience who are employed in a public school within PPL Electric's service area in Pennsylvania.
