Services across Inverclyde Council and the HSCP are ready for winter as the temperatures start to drop.
Across Inverclyde, gritter lorries will cover 256 km of roads with access of up to 5,000 tonnes of grit. Communities have access to more than 500 grit bins to help keep their neighbourhood streets clear of ice.
Winter planning updateThe council's winter plan is currently up and running until March 2025 with gritter drivers already covering a 24/7 rota to keep priority routes open such as those near schools and Inverclyde Royal.
A webpage with all the details on gritting route maps, as well as from external partners such as ScotRail and McGills on how adverse weather may affect public transport is under 'Related Links'.
Any urgent messaging on severe weather issues will also be shared on the council's social media channels. Links are in the Other Websites to the right of this page.
Councillor Michael McCormick, convener of the Environment and Regeneration committee, said: "The current cold spell is a reminder of the impact of winter weather.
"Our teams are ready, as they always are, to deal with whatever the winter weather has in store for us.
"Our priority gritting routes keep Inverclyde moving but we would always encourage residents to grit their driveways and pavements. A list of grit bin locations is available on our website and I would urge people to locate their nearest one and get in touch via our Customer Contact Centre when it needs refilled."
Changes to opening hours for services such as libraries, social work centres, our customer contact centre and bin collections will be published on this website and social media channels.
