UFT statement on Chancellor Banks' resignation

David C. Banks announced on Sept. 24 that he would be stepping down as schools chancellor.

In response, UFT President Michael Mulgrew issued the following statement:

"Now more than ever, we need to focus on doing the work that our students, educators, and public schools need. Chancellor David Banks is an educator who sought to improve public education for all students. We thank him for his partnership, passion, and collaboration and wish him well."
