City of Denton Thanksgiving Operating Hours and Closings

DENTON, TX, Nov. 25, 2024 - City of Denton will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Facilities will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2. Please note the following with respect to specific City of Denton services and facilities:

Airport
Airport administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29. The air traffic control tower will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the airfield will remain open 24 hours per day.

Animal Services and Shelter
Animal Services and the Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29. Regular hours will resume on Saturday, Nov. 30. To report an animal-related non-emergency, call (940) 349-8181. In case of an emergency, call 911.

Libraries
All libraries will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29. Regular hours will resume on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Municipal Courts
All Municipal Courts will close at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29. Regular hours will resume on Monday, Dec. 2.

Parks and Recreation
The Denton Civic Center, Denia Rec Center, MLK Jr. Rec Center, North Lakes Rec Center, North Lakes Driving Range, Denton Senior Center, ALH Senior Center, and Denton Natatorium will all be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29. The Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center and the North Lakes Driving Range will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28 but will be open on Friday, Nov. 29 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Both the pro shop and courts will close after 5 p.m. All Parks and Recreation facilities will resume normal hours Saturday, Nov. 30.

Public Safety
Public safety personnel will be on duty during the holiday. The Denton Police Department non-emergency number is (940) 349-8181, and in case of an emergency, dial 911.

Solid Waste & Recycling
There will be no curbside trash, recycling, home chemical collections, or yard waste collection on Thursday, Nov. 28. Thursday's route will be collected on Friday, Nov. 29.The City of Denton Landfill and the Home Chemical Collections Drop Off & Re-use Store will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and will be open 7 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 29.

Utilities
Customer Service will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29 and will reopen at normal business hours on Monday, Dec. 2. To report a utility service emergency, call Utilities dispatch at (940) 349-7000.
