ISDB Funds Boost IUIU's ICT Infrastructure

Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) welcomed a delegation from the Islamic Development Bank (ISDB) for a two-day site visit On Tuesday, August 20, 2023, at the main campus in Mbale.

The delegation, led by Dr. Umar Ishaq Iddris, was received by the Rector, Associate Professor Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, the Vice-Rector incharge of Finance and Administration, Professor Kaziba Abdul Mpaata, the University Engineer, and other members of staff.

The ISDB delegates toured various ISDB-funded projects at the university, including the ICT facilities and the new library under furnishing.

Dr. Chemisto Musa, the ICT Manager of IUIU, commended ISDB for its significant support, noting that over 90% of the university is now coveredby Wi-Fi due to the equipment purchased with ISDB'sassistance. He added that all IUIU campuses would be fully coveredwithin the next two years.

Dr. Musa Highlighted the university'ssuccess in ICT, noting that IUIU is now sharing its core software with other institutions, such as Lakeside University in Ghana.

The Rector, Associate Professor Gyagenda, emphasized the importance of completing the multimedia studio and appealed for further support in other areas, acknowledging ISDB'svital role in funding these projects. The ISDB delegation commended IUIU for its outstanding efforts in enhancing education through ICT at the institution.
