Sacramento - As part of the ongoing U.S. Highway 50 (US-50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement and Rehabilitation Project from the Interstate 5 connector to 0.8 mile east of Watt Avenue in Sacramento, Caltrans is alerting motorists of long-term ramp closures starting Monday, July 8.

Long-term closures are scheduled at the Riverside Boulevard on-ramp and 15th Street off-ramp on eastbound US-50 for concrete pavement work.

Schedule:

  • Closures will start on Monday, July 8 at 5 a.m.
  • Closures are expected to last two weeks.
  • Motorists driving eastbound on US-50 will be directed to the 5th Street off-ramp and 16th Street on-ramp.

Full ramp closures will reduce the need for construction operations at night, minimizing noise from heavy equipment, and expedite the work schedule.

The ongoing construction is part of the $483.5 million U.S. Highway 50 Multimodal Corridor Enhancement and Rehabilitation ("Fix50") project to expand 14 new HOV lane miles and rehabilitate 54 lane miles of pavement on US 50 from the US 50/I-5 interchange to the US 50/Watt Avenue interchange. For more information on this project text "Fix50" to 41372 or visit www.Fix50.com.

Crews are scheduled to work in the construction zone day and night. Work is scheduled to begin as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, or construction-related issues. For the safety of workers and motorists, the 55-mph speed limit will be enforced 24/7 by the California Highway Patrol. Caltrans advises motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" - someone's loved one is at work.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. The department will issue construction updates on @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3. For real-time traffic, click on Caltrans' QuickMap or download the QuickMap app from the App Store or Google Play. Motorists also can call the California Highway Information Network automated phone service at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).
