Firearm Recovered After a Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 12:48 PM, on Friday, July 5, 2024, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Jordan Galloway, 25, of Mattapan, on firearm charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Columbia Road and Dorchester Avenue when they observed a motor vehicle with tint on the side windows but not the rear window. Officers activated their cruiser's emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the operator to be reaching to the right side of the vehicle. Officers requested the operator for his license and registration. When the operator handed the documents to officers, they observed his hand to be very shaky. Officers further observed the operator to be breathing heavily and sweating profusely.

After further investigation, officers requested the operator to exit the vehicle. Officers conducted a pat frisk of the motor vehicle and recovered a firearm from inside. The firearm was later determined to be a Ruger 380 with one round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine.

Galloway was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
