TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Series of Night Closures Scheduled to Begin on I-10 for Streetlight Repairs

NEW ORLEANS - The City of New Orleans today announced that the Department of Public Works, in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD), will conduct a series of weekly night closures on Interstate 10 (I-10) to facilitate much-needed streetlight repairs. These closures, essential for enhancing safety and visibility along the interstate, are scheduled to begin on Thursday, Aug. 15.

Scheduled Closure:

  • Thursday, Aug. 15
  • 8 p.m. - 4 a.m.
  • Location: I-10 Westbound Right Lane, between Elysian Fields Avenue and St. Bernard Avenue
  • Includes:
  • I-10 on-ramp from Elysian Fields Avenue
  • St. Bernard Avenue off-ramp
  • I-10 on-ramp from North Claiborne Avenue

The City is actively coordinating with LaDOTD to schedule additional weekly night closures, with specific dates and times contingent on state approval.

By working together, the City and State aim to expedite these critical repairs, minimizing long-term disruptions and ensuring that the necessary improvements are completed as efficiently as possible.

Appropriate signage will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zone. Drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes or allow for extra travel time during the closure period.
