Drone Delivery Service Begins at Denton’s South Loop Walmart

DENTON, TX, Oct. 2, 2024 - Beginning Thursday, Oct. 3, Walmart in partnership with Wing, an aviation company, is providing drone delivery service at their South Loop 288 location. Drone delivery will be available for select, smaller items for residents within about a six-mile radius of the store. Eligibility varies by location, but specific addresses can be verified here. Customers must use the Wing mobile app to complete orders.

The drones are expected to fly at an elevation of 200 to 250 feet from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., seven days a week. However, due to no deliveries being made after dark, hours will adjust with daylight saving time.

The drones do not have a live video feed or imagery, but are equipped with low resolution, camera sensors used to assist with navigation and help ensure safety and reliability of deliveries.

The DFW Metroplex is the first major U.S. metropolitan area with a commercial drone delivery service, which now includes Little Elm, Frisco, and Denton.
