    • October 19 - Orca Recovery Day - Squaxin Park
During this restoration event, we will work together to restore forested habitats to their intended state by removing non-indigenous vegetation and planting Pacific Northwest trees and shrubs. The day will also include a guided shore walk, refreshments, and a chance to learn about other organizations helping to better our orcas!
    • October 23 - Garfield Nature Trail
    • October 25 - Decatur Woods
    • October 26 - LBA Woods
  • Register for Fall Poetry Workshops! Join Olympia Poet Laureate Kathleen Byrd for fall poetry reading and writing workshops on the theme of eco-poetry. Workshops are free, registration required:
    • October 30, 4:00-5:30 PM: Poetry reading session at Harbor House on Percival Landing. The selected book is You are Here: Poetry of the Natural World, edited by Ada Limon. Bring a copy of the book if you can (you don't need to read the entire collection but should have some familiarity with it). Kathleen will bring additional poems or readings to further our conversation. Register here.
    • November 13, 4:00-5:30 PM: Poetry writing session at The Olympia Center, Room 100. The theme is winter/water and exploring the poetics of place. You'll be given opportunities to write, reflect, and share, responding to prompts that connect us to our own home place here in Olympia. We will also think about grief and hope as a collective response to climate change in our community. No prior poetry experience necessary. Be sure to bring writing materials! Register here.
  • Need a place to host your next meeting, class or event? The Olympia Center, Harbor House, and Park Shelters are here to meet your needs. Give us a call at 360.753.8380 for more information.
