Nathaniel Wentland is Loudoun’s New Director of Information Technology

Nathaniel Wentland has been selected as the new director of the Loudoun County Department of Information Technology, County Administrator Tim Hemstreet announced today. Wentland was selected following a nationwide recruitment. His appointment is effective October 10, 2024.

Wentland has more than 25 years of professional experience in planning, developing and implementing information technology and engineering solutions for local governments and the private sector, most recently as Fairfax County's deputy director of information technology. His previous experience includes various roles in the Arlington County government, including chief business technology officer and director of networking and telecommunications.

"Mr. Wentland stood out as the top candidate due to his wide range of experience and successful outcomes in the area of information technology; I'm confident he'll continue to be successful leading Loudoun's information security and technology initiatives in the future."

As the director of the Loudoun Department of Information Technology, Wentland will oversee all information technology operations, from infrastructure and data analytics to enterprise tools and business systems. The department also works to ensure IT security in all of the county's work. In addition, the Department of Information Technology promotes broadband services for the residents and businesses of Loudoun County, administers the county's cable television franchises, provides staff support to the Loudoun County Communications Commission, provides technology systems and services to the county government and Loudoun County Public Schools, and radio communications services to the county's public safety agencies. Wentland holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from California Polytechnic University.
