Anchorage Community Invited to Engage with the Transition Team

Anchorage, AK-On June 13, 2024, Mayor-Elect LaFrance announced eighteen community leaders who would help guide the transition efforts on the administration's top priorities: Good Government, Safe Streets & Trails and Building Our Future.

Good Government: Mike Abbott, Eleanor Andrews, Jane Angvik, Jennifer Johnston, and Jasmin Smith
Safe Streets & Trails:Bob Doehl, LeeAnn Garrick, Walt Monegan, Beth Nordlund, and Dave Rittenberg
Building Our Future: Sheldon Fisher, Carol Gore, Joelle Hall, Radhika Krishna, Aaron Leggett, Bill Popp, Ivy Spohnholz, and Jonathan Taylor

The community leaders connected broadly to build diverse and robust teams to tackle the work. Some of the top priorities were broken into sub-categories.

    • Unsheltered homelessness & Shelter Planning
    • Improving Public Safety & Staffing up Public Safety
    • Proactively Creating Safe & Vibrant Public Spaces
  • Building Our Future

    • Economic Development

The teams met three times and worked through a process of: Refining the Vision, Establishing the Current Conditions and Challenges and finally developing and prioritizing a proposed Action and Implementation Plan.

The transition team invites the Anchorage community to attend an open house and presentation to learn more about the process and have the opportunity to provide feedback on the findings.
