SALEM, MA - Congressman Seth Moulton announced that a number of fire departments and emergency medical service organizations across the North Shore will receive a total of $1.6 million in Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) grants.
The federal funding is part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG), which was created in 2001 to help firefighters and other first responders obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training and other resources necessary for protecting the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
The following AFG grants have been awarded to Sixth District communities.
Additional grant recipients may be announced later this summer.
"Firefighters are among the bravest public servants we have. Their extraordinary courage and dedication helps protect our communities day in and day out," said Congressman Moulton. "I am thrilled the Sixth District was awarded over $1.6 million in federal Assistance to Firefighters Grants to help fund training and equipment for our local departments. This funding will go a long way toward helping our firefighters do their jobs as safely and effectively as possible."
Fire safety grants fund critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel, enhance efficiencies and support community resilience. You can learn more about the program on the FEMA website here.
