Appeal for witnesses following shooting in Southwark

Detectives investigating a shooting in Southwark are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service (LAS) at 16:54hrs on Wednesday, 10 July to reports of an injured man at East Surrey Grove, SE15.

Officers, LAS and London's Air Ambulance attended. At the scene a 20-year-old man had been shot a number of times.

He was taken to hospital where his condition is critical. His family has been notified.

At this early stage there have been no arrests and crime scenes remain in place.

Detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command are investigating led by Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, who said: "We are in the early stages of our investigation and are piecing together a timeline of events leading up to, and following the shots being fired.

"If you saw anything suspicious, or perhaps witnessed the shooting or have footage, please do get in touch and share it with us.

"In the coming days local residents will notice additional police patrols in the area to provide reassurance. Please do approach officers and speak to them if you need to."
