Hoboken Police Department invites residents to National Night Out 2024

The Hoboken Police Department invites residents to participate in the 2024 National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Church Square Park.

National Night Out, which is locally co-sponsored by the Hoboken and Stevens Institute of Technology Police Departments, is held on the first Tuesday of August in communities across the country every year. The free, family-friendly, and fun event brings together members of law enforcement and public safety, city residents, businesses, and community leaders to heighten crime and drug awareness and prevention, strengthen police-community relationships, and sends a message that Hoboken is organized, united, and fighting back against crime.

"Programs like National Night Out, which strengthen the relationship between residents and officers, are some of the most important to our department," said Police Chief Steven Aguiar. "I thank Sgt. Christopher LaBruno and his team for their hard work planning this year's event, and I look forward to joining everyone for another great National Night Out on August 6."

This year's highlights include a New Jersey Devils mobile hockey station, a "jaws of life" demonstration by the Hoboken Fire Department, free food including shaved ice, hot dogs, and frozen hot chocolate, along with musical entertainment, a 360-degree photo booth, a bounce-house, inflatable and water slides, and arts and crafts.Local businesses will also be on hand giving away informational and promotional materials.

The Hoboken and Stevens police departments will be joined by representatives of the Hoboken Fire Department, the Hoboken Office of Emergency Management, the Hoboken EMS and Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Hoboken Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), NJ Transit Police, Port Authority Police, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, the Hudson County Sheriff's Office, Hoboken's social workers, and more.

Residents and visitors of all ages are welcome and encouraged to join in the fun-filled even! For more information about National Night Out and see video highlights from last year event head to: https://hobokenpdnj.gov/hoboken-national-night-out-2023-video-highlights/.
