Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach today announced that First District Councilwoman Mary Zendejas, among other civic and community leaders, will serve as grand marshal for the 2024 Día de los Muertos Grand Parade, taking place in Downtown Long Beach on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.

The parade will commence at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Pine Avenue and East Third Street, then travel down Pine Avenue to East Shoreline Drive. Led by the grand marshals, the parade will feature a variety of culturally rich performances and floats and participation from various City departments and community partners, among other elements.

Grand Marshals
The City proudly presents the following additional grand marshals who will lead the 2024 Día de los Muertos Grand Parade:

  • Long Beach Latino Employees Organization is a group of City employees with a commitment to fostering growth and connections by engaging in monthly discussions focusing on professional development, health, wellness, mentorship, arts and culture. Additionally, they organize volunteer opportunities and social events to facilitate meaningful connections among peers and broaden their networks.
  • Latinos in Action California is a grassroots organization with the mission to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all. They provide programs that educate, empower and encourage community members to become and excel as leaders in the community.
  • Julian Torres is a mariachi artist and singer who was born in Hawthorne, California to Mexican parents. He is passionate about music education and the importance of sharing culture and traditions through music. He has traveled and performed in many prestigious venues, including Disneyland, Dodger Stadium, Sabado Gigante, Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, Ford Amphitheater, Teatro Metropolitan and for our military troops overseas in Okinawa, Japan.
  • Centro CHA is a community organization that formed in 1992 and is dedicated to the improvement and advancement of Latino/Hispanic people. Through their integrated approach to services, initiatives and programs, they have played an integral part in the improvement of social and economic development of the community.

The parade will coincide with the Arte y Ofrendas Festival, a family-friendly event featuring arts and crafts, music and entertainment, and food and beverage offerings, taking place at Marina Green Park (386 E. Shoreline Dr.) from noon to 10 p.m. The festival, which was previously slated to take place at Rainbow Lagoon, will require paid entry. Tickets can be purchased here.

While community members are encouraged to come out and enjoy the festive celebrations in person, the parade will also stream live on the ABC7 Los Angeles' digital channel followed by an on-air broadcast on ABC7 Los Angeles Sunday, Nov. 3, at 10:30 a.m.
