Universities Unite to Recover After Hurricane Milton

Tallahassee, FL (October 10, 2024) - The State University System of Florida unites to recover from Hurricane Milton. A few of our institutions were impacted by the storm and our teams are currently assessing damage and collaborating with local and state emergency personnel to ensure that when students and staff return, they can do so safely. The Chancellor has been in contact with emergency personnel who are coordinating with universities to provide guidance and assistance based on prior hurricane recovery experience.

"Our thoughts are with the communities recovering from Hurricane Milton. Thanks to Governor Ron DeSantis' leadership, Florida communities and universities have the resources and support needed to overcome Hurricane Milton's effects," said Chancellor Ray Rodrigues. "We are appreciative of the university personnel who remained on campus to monitor the storm and ensure student safety. We continue to remain in communication with universities impacted to assist in their recovery efforts. Our priority is to ensure our universities are able to open safely so students can return to class."
