On October 25, 2024, at approximately 5:05 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to Health Sciences Centre at 700 William Avenue for the report of an injured adult male who walked in suffering from serious injuries.
Central District General Patrol officers attended and located a 56-year-old male victim being treated for life altering injuries sustained from an assault with a weapon.
The initial investigation revealed that at approximately 4:15 a.m., the victim was walking eastbound Ellice Avenue near Beverley Street when he was assaulted from behind by a suspect who is believed to be armed with a machete. The assault appears to be unprovoked, and the victim and suspect are not known to each other.
Suspect Description:
The Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation, and is working to determine an updated description of the suspect. No arrests have been made.
