Risch Meets with U.S. Reporter and Former Russian Prisoner Evan Gershkovich

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today met with American journalist Evan Gershkovich.

"For over a year, Evan Gershkovich suffered at the hands of the Kremlin for simply doing his job - reporting on the harsh reality of life and politics in Russia. During that time, the U.S. Congress remained committed to doing everything we could to bring him and other wrongfully detained Americans home. I was very glad to meet with Evan today and finally welcome him home."

Background:

In September 2023, Risch co-led a Senate resolution calling for Evan's release. The resolution passed the Senate in June 2024 with unanimous support.
