Indiana Democratic Party State Central Committee Honors President Joe Biden and Endorses Kamala Harris for President

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana's DNC Delegation voted unanimously to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris' candidacy for President tonight in a virtual call.

Indiana's 88 delegates voted to endorse Vice President Harris on a Zoom call this evening. Delegates were originally pledged to President Joe Biden based on the results of the Indiana Democratic Primary in May, but are now unbound to any specific candidate after his decision to leave the race.

In a separate vote and meeting, Indiana's Democratic State Central Committee unanimously passed resolutions honoring President Biden and endorsing Harris to replace him on the ballot.

On July 21, President Joe Biden announced he was ending his bid for reelection, at which point he subsequently endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as she launched a campaign of her own in his place.

Prior to serving as Vice President, Harris was the Attorney General of California from 2011-2017. After that, she was elected to the US Senate and served from 2017-2021. As a senator, she garnered acclaim for her important questioning of individuals appointed to be a part of the Trump Administration.

Throughout her time as Vice President, she stood by President Biden's side and supported him as he presided over one of the most consequential administrations in our recent history. She is dedicated to continuing this precedent, and has been a champion for reproductive justice and gun violence prevention throughout her time in public service.

"Vice President Kamala Harris has already made history by serving in our nation's second-highest office. She is tenacious, skilled, and powerful, and we are proud to endorse her as the next President of the United States so that she can continue the legacy of unprecedented job growth, historically low unemployment, and fighting for reproductive freedom in all 50 states," said Indiana Democratic Party Chair Mike Schmuhl.

"As she served by President Biden's side these past three and a half years, America has had the privilege of watching her continuously fight for the rights of marginalized individuals and working families. Our party stands behind her at this moment, and we are ready to work to usher in a new generation of leadership in our state and nation - and defeat Trumpism at the ballot box once more."
