The State of Iowa's Iowa CDL Infrastructure Grant awarded NICC a $265,000 grant to enhance its Semi-Truck Driving program on campus, improve access roads to the truck driving range on campus, purchase additional training vehicles and expand student enrollment capacity.

Northeast Iowa Community College will host two events for the community at its Peosta and Dubuque locations on Oct. 14-15. The media and the public are welcome to attend.

The first event, a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Open House, will be hosted at the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS) building on the Peosta campus Monday, Oct. 14, from 4:30-7 pm. The event is designed for local business leaders who need skilled, trained and CDL-certified truck and bus drivers for their organizations. State of Iowa legislators were also invited to attend the open house and NICC Interim President Dave Dahms will share opening remarks at 5 pm.

The event includes an on-site driving range demonstration and opportunities for the public to get behind the wheel of the College's new bus and semi-truck with trailer. Community members can experience a state-of-the-art CDL Simulator that replicates real-world driving scenarios.
