Title IX training opportunities expanded

New federal Title IX regulations that add protections for LGBTQ+ students and staff took effect in Oregon on Aug. 1. The Oregon Department of Education is offering additional training spots to meet federal requirements and help school officials put procedures in place.

ODE offers three-hour trainings for Title IX coordinators as well as investigations and responses. ODE has a guide to who must take the webinars along with frequently asked questions. ODE shared an expanded list of webinar dates, and in-person training is also available through some education service districts.

Title IX investigations and responses:

• Friday, Aug. 30, 9 a.m.-noon
• Thursday, Sept. 5, 1-4 p.m.
• Thursday, Sept. 12, 9 a.m.-noon
• Wednesday, Oct. 2, 1-4 p.m.
• Friday, Oct. 11, 8-11 a.m.
• Tuesday, Oct. 22, 12:30-3:30 p.m.

• Monday, Sept. 9, 1-3 p.m.
• Friday, Sept. 27, 9-11 a.m.
