In 1994, Mike Farabee joined the Baytown Police Department and attended the Baytown Police Academy as a cadet. Detective Farabee was selected as Vice President of his academy class and excelled academically finishing 2nd in his class.
Detective Farabee's career with Baytown PD has been marked by consistent excellence and recognition. He was named Officer of the Year by the Baytown Veterans of Foreign Wars in 1999 and transitioned to the Investigations Division as a Detective in 1998. By 2001, he joined the Crime Scene Unit, where his meticulous work contributed to solving high-profile cases, particularly with advancements in DNA technology.
In 2020, Detective Farabee took on a new role as an Internal Affairs Detective, bringing his experience and integrity to a vital position. Over his career, he has received 29 commendations, including Emergency Service Ribbons, Employee Merit Accomplishment Notices, Honorable Conduct Medals, and the prestigious Chief's Unit Citation.
Detective Farabee holds a Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. He also graduated from San Jacinto College and before his service with Baytown he served his country with the United States Marine Corps ("Oorah").
