Two hectares of trees have been planted by CABEI in Costa Rica through annual reforestation days

San José, July 2, 2024.- A total of 2,000 trees have been planted in various parts of Costa Rica over eight years by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), with the support of volunteers who participate annually in this activity that aims to compensate for CO2 emissions originated as part of the multilateral's operations in the country.

The figure, equivalent to two reforested hectares, is a source of pride for the institution and its collaborators, as well as their family and friends who have also been part of the reforestation days organized by the institution as part of its Environmental Management System (SGA) and of Corporate Environmental and Social Responsibility (SASC).

This collective effort has allowed the planting of hundreds of trees of native species in various places in the country, contributing significantly to the conservation of biodiversity and the strengthening of local ecosystems.

The La Selva Biological Corridor in Sarapiquí was the beneficiary in 2024, where 250 trees of species such as Manú Negro (Minquartia guianensis), Jobo (Spondias mombin), Zota Caballo (Luehea divaricate) and others were planted by 50 volunteers, including children, teens, and adults.

CABEI remains committed to environmental protection and sustainable development, demonstrating its leadership in the region through concrete and effective actions. Reforestation with native species is just one of the many initiatives that the Bank implements to guarantee a greener and healthier future.
