Traffic Advisory - Potential for major congestion around Kennedy Blvd due to an upcoming CSX railroad repair project

Drivers in South Tampa are being alerted to the potential for major congestion around Kennedy Boulevard due to an upcoming CSX railroad repair project.

Starting Sunday, July 7th at 9 P.M. the Florida Department of Transportation will close Kennedy Boulevard (SR 60) at Willow Avenue. The closure will remain in place for five days while CSX performs work on the railroad track (weather permitting). This closure will lead to significant congestion along the planned detour routes on West Cleveland Street and West Platt Street. Drivers may also consider using alternative options like Swann Avenue or I-275 to avoid the closure all together. Electronic message boards and detour signs will signal drivers in the area. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
