Meet a Colleague: Debbie Price Debbie Price is the Administrative Assistant for Law Admissions and has worked at the Law School since August 2015.

Debbie Price is the Administrative Assistant for Law Admissions and has worked at the Law School since August 2015. She is a graduate of Christopher Newport University, Go Captains! She currently resides in the beautiful countryside of Rockbridge County, with her husband Bryan Price, who also works at W&L. She has three wonderful daughters and five spirted grandkids, with another one on the way, who inspire her to keep active!

Q. How long have you worked at W&L?
I've worked at W&L Law for more than nine years.

Q. Where is your favorite location on the W&L campus?
Hands down, Woods Creek Trail. It is an amazing gift to have right on campus.

Q. Where did you grow up?
That's hard for me to say, as I am an "Army Brat." I was issued/born on an Army post in Alabama, but only lived there three months, before moving to Oklahoma for another three months, then off to Hawaii for three years. I lived in Vero Beach, Florida near both my grandparents for three years while my dad served as an Army helicopter pilot in Vietnam. I also lived for six years in three different regions of Germany. However, I have lived the longest in the great state of Virginia (but not in the same area).

Q. What's your favorite thing to do when you're not working?
Spending time with family (this includes our dog Bo) and friends. I am blessed to have three amazing daughters and five grandchildren. I find spending time in my garden and berry patches is a wonderful way to decompress from a busy day of work. I also love to cook, take walks/hikes, and fish on the beautiful Maury River as often as I can.

Q. What is an accomplishment you are proud of?
I am proud and privileged to have homeschooled all my girls for a total of 18+ years. All of them went on to earn college degrees and more. I will forever be proud of my three daughters and the amazing women they have become.

Q. Who Inspires you?
Claire Lewis, my sweet, patient, and strong mom, who went home to be with the Lord last year. She never complained once about how much my dad was away serving in the U.S. Army. She had to make all the daily life decisions and back in those days, the armed services had very little in the way of support services for trailing spouses and family. She always just did the next thing and did it gracefully.

Q. Tell us something most people don't know about you.
I am both a PADI and NAUI-certified Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver. This requires deep diving to a minimum depth of 100 feet, night diving, as well as many other fun things. I used to manage a U.S. Divers dive shop, and because of my affiliation with U.S. Divers, when Jacques Cousteau (a childhood hero) brought his ship The Calypso (the ship you always saw in the National Geographic documentaries "back in the day") to Virginia, I was able to take a tour of the Calypso and meet one of his sons. It was a childhood dream come true for me.

Q. What would be my dessert Island Food?
Well, if I could pick both one food and drink (because fresh water is available on this island). I would totally love to have pizza and beer. But I might have to re-think the beer and pick RUM. After all, we are talking about being on an island. Rum is an island drink, and it has medicinal value, just ask any pirate! Hmmm… beer or rum… this requires more thought.
