Digi International Demonstrates Edge AI/ML for Embedded Systems at Embedded World North America 2024

DIGI INTERNATIONAL BOOTH 2123, AUSTIN CONVENTION CENTER,OCTOBER 8-10, 2024

AUSTIN, Texas, October 7, 2024 - Digi International®, (NASDAQ: DGII), a leading global provider of Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity products, solutions and services, today announced its latest innovations for embedded systems to be showcased at Embedded World North America 2024 - demonstrating the capabilities of next-generation edge AI, computer vision, and cloud solutions. Digi will also be participating in a panel discussion on the topic, Securing IoT Devices: by Design or by Default.

Embedded World comes to North America for the first time, bringing its focus on embedded technology, industry expertise, and product innovation that make it the premier gathering for developers, system architects, product managers, and technical management. Recognized for delivering innovative, reliable, and secure solutions that empower companies to design, deploy, and manage connected devices at scale, Digi will share its latest solutions at Embedded World North America, underscoring its ongoing commitment to industry innovation and collaboration.

"We are excited to showcase our latest innovations at Embedded World North America, highlighting how edge intelligence and secure cloud integration help transform embedded systems development for connected products across industries," said Mike Rohrmoser, Vice President of Product Management, OEM Solutions at Digi. "Our mission is to provide our customers with the products and services that help them accelerate innovation and go to market."

In booth 2123, Digi will showcase its new Digi ConnectCore® MP25 System-on-Module (SOM), based on STMicroelectronics' STM32MP25 microprocessor, and Digi XBee® edge intelligence capabilities:

  • Computer Vision with Digi ConnectCore® MP25
A demonstration of the latest Digi ConnectCore MP25 SOM, designed to deliver next-generation computer vision and edge AI/ML capabilities for industrial, medical, energy, and transportation applications. Running pre-trained machine learning models from the ST Edge AI Model Zoo on the Digi ConnectCore MP25 SOM's integrated AI/ML accelerator, Digi showcases advanced capabilities such as object detection, image recognition, and gesture control. The demo illustrates how customers can deliver value with high-performance ML/AI directly at the edge - empowering manufacturers to create a new class of intelligent products without relying on processing in the cloud.

Additionally, the demonstration will show how the module's connectivity features, including pre-certified dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, seamlessly integrate with Digi ConnectCore Cloud Services and the Digi TrustFence® Security framework, offering secure device management and over-the-air updates throughout the entire product lifecycle.

  • Edge Intelligence with Digi XBee®
Featuring the Digi XBee 3 Global LTE-M/NB-IoT smart modem, this interactive demonstration highlights intelligent edge-to-cloud connectivity. The XBee Sensor Lab invites attendees to engage directly with sensors, observing real-time data changes on an interactive display. This setup demonstrates the process of capturing, processing, and transmitting data at the edge over the LTE cellular network using Digi XBee 3 Global Cellular modems, and provides a hands-on experience of seamless IoT communication combined with edge intelligence.

The Digi ConnectCore MP25 SOM will also be showcased on the STMicroelectronics Wall of SOMs in booth 2405.

Additionally, Digi is participating in a panel discussion, Securing IoT Devices: by Design or by Default, hosted by the IoT M2M Council. Josh Heller, Digi's Product Security Chair, will be among four panelists for this session, taking place Tuesday, October 8, 11:00 a.m. CT on Level 3, Room 6.

Digi's latest embedded IoT technologies are redefining how people, machines, and processes interact, driving more efficient operations, and delivering business outcome.
