Meeting to Discuss Idaho Power’s Long-Range Energy Plan Set for Thursday

Experts from Idaho Power will discuss options around key energy resources that will influence the region's long-term energy future at a virtual meeting Thursday. It will be the second monthly meeting of the company's Integrated Resource Plan Advisory Council (IRPAC).

The IRPAC is a volunteer panel representing customer groups and regulators that meets with Idaho Power staff several times over a period of months to discuss the utility's 2025 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), which will lay out the company's preferred portfolio of energy resources to serve customers over the next 20 years.

Idaho Power develops a new plan every two years. The company enlists the help of its customers to create the IRP through the IRPAC, which includes representatives from public-interest groups, industry, and agriculture, as well as state and local lawmakers, public utility commission staff, and other interested parties.

IRPAC meetings are open to the public. Thursday's meeting will look at the potential impact of federal emissions rules, forecasts for natural gas and coal, and a forecast for small power production facilities, such as wind and solar. Background information and a link for attending via Webex are available at idahopower.com/irp. Meetings begin at 9 a.m. Mountain Time.
