Boil Water Notice rescinded for southern barrier islands

Pinellas County Utilities has rescinded the precautionary boil water notice issued for the barrier islands south of John's Pass. Water Quality testing confirms water in this area now meets all federal and state drinking water standards.

The affected area included St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island and Tierra Verde. Utilities crews have been working around the clock to repair pipes in the potable water system that were damaged during Hurricane Helene.

We are asking residents on the barrier islands to continue to reduce water usage to limit the amount of wastewater entering the sanitary sewer system. This will help prevent sanitary sewer overflows as crews continue their work of bringing pump stations back online.

Sunset Beach on Treasure Island is the only section of this area that remains without drinking water because of sand and debris covering our service valves at individual meters.

There are also less than 450 properties on the southern barrier islands that are not adequately receiving drinking water due to damage on their private side of the water service line. We will be working with them as they hire licensed plumbers to make the repairs on their private property during this phase of recovery.
