Man Arrested for Threatening People with a Knife in South Seattle

Seattle Police arrested a man for threatening people with a knife in South Seattle on Tuesday evening.

On July 2nd at 6:53 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 2600 block of Rainier Avenue South for reports of a male threatening people while armed with a large kitchen knife. He also directed bias, derogatory language towards them.

Officers quickly located the suspect and arrested him. They recovered a knife and seized it as evidence.

The 36-year-old male was booked into King County Jail.

Homicide & Assault Unit Detectives filed the following charges: two counts of Hate Crime Offense, Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer and Making a False or Misleading Statement to a Public Servant.

This case has been referred to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
