Waynesburg U. hosts second Business and Communication Career Fair

Waynesburg University's Pathways Center hosted its second Business and Communication Career Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, on the third floor of the Stover Campus Center. A total of 81 students from various majors attended the fair.

While this event was open to all students, students majoring in areas related to business and communication were encouraged to attend.

"The goal of hosting this event was for students and local employers to make meaningful connections, whether that means underclassmen having a first introduction and gaining insight into the industry, upperclassmen exploring potential job and internship opportunities or anything in between," said Sam Pete, academic services coordinator at Waynesburg University.

Students had the opportunity to speak with representatives from a plethora of local employers who attended the event, including FBI Pittsburgh, BAM Advertising, the IRS, WOAY-TV, Gatrell Business Solutions, WJPA Radio, Schneider Downs & Co. and Holsinger, P.C.

Pete reported that most students felt more prepared after attending and would recommend attending this fair. She also offered advice to students who may want to attend a similar career fair in the future.

"Come prepared. It always helps to make a good impression if you dress professionally, bring copies of your updated resume and conduct a little research ahead of time on companies that interest you to be able to ask more specific questions about each workplace," Pete said. "Take it one table at a time and be yourself. This is not a formal interview setting; it's more of a series of casual, polite conversations and getting to know each employer."
