Youth Violence Strike Force Makes Arrest and Recovers Loaded Firearm Leaving Dorchester Courthouse

At about 10:38 AM, on Friday, July 26^th, 2024, Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force (YVSF) made an on-site arrest of Roberto Valladares, 23, of Dorchester for firearm related charges near the intersection of Washington St. and Tremlett St, Dorchester.

Officers had exited Dorchester District Court and were waiting outside to participate in a court proceeding, when they observed Valladares at the intersection of Tremlett St. and Washington St. holding a firearm in his hand towards other people located in-front of him. Officers notified radio operations and watched Valladares turn around and begin to walk down Tremlett St. while securing the firearm in his waistband.

Officers approached Valladares and gave commands for him to stop and show his hands. Valladares started backing up, motioning towards his waist, while Officers shouted commands to him to stop and drop the gun.

Valladares started running across Washington St. towards West Tremlett St. and eventually turned into a private driveway located on W. Tremlett Street. Officers were directly behind Valladares as he ran into a private yard of a residence that was fenced in. Valladares, realizing he had no escape, now ran towards the back of the yard, and with a throwing motion, launched the handgun over a chain link fence and immediately faced Officers in a fighting posture disobeying all commands.

After a brief struggle, Valladares was placed in custody and a firearm was recovered. The firearm was determined to be a Glock 19 loaded with one (1) 9mm round in the chamber and eleven (11) rounds loaded into the magazine.

Roberto Valladares was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the charges of Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
