WARNER BROS. TELEVISION AND THE BOSTON FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCE WBTV COLLEGE DAY ON SEPTEMBER 19

BURBANK, CA (September 6, 2024) - Warner Bros. Television (WBTV) and the Boston Film Festival will partner for a special WBTV College Day at the 40th annual event on Thursday, September 19, 2024. As part of WBTV's ongoing mission to provide valuable educational media industry opportunities for college students across the United States, the Studio and long-running film festival will present advance episode screenings of new series Brilliant Minds (NBC) and Rescue: HI-Surf (FOX) as well as popular returning series The Sex Lives of College Girls (Max), each followed by panel discussions and Q&As for students of Boston-area campuses.

Brilliant Mindswill present an advance screening at Boston University, offering a first look at the series ahead of its September 23 official premiere on NBC.

The series, inspired by the extraordinary life and work of world-famous author and physician Oliver Sacks, follows a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier - the human mind - while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.

Michael Grassi serves as creator, writer and executive producer. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Melissa Aouate, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis and Shefali Malhoutra also executive produce.

Berlanti Productions, Fabel Entertainment, The Imaginarium, Grassi Productions and Tavala produce in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

A post-screening Q&A featuring Tamberla Perry ("Dr. Carol Pierce"), Michael Grassi (Executive Producer and Showrunner), DeMane Davis (Executive Producer and Director), and Daniela Lamas (Consulting Producer and Writer) will follow.

Rescue: HI-Surf will also launch with a special screening at Boston University in advance of its September 22 premiere on FOX.

From prolific, award-winning executive producer John Wells ("Shameless," "The West Wing,"
"ER") and executive producer/writer Matt Kester ("Animal Kingdom," "Outsiders"), Rescue: HI-Surf is an action-packed drama that follows the personal and professional lives of the heavy-water lifeguards who patrol and protect the North Shore of O'ahu-the most famous and dangerous stretch of coastline in the world. Each episode will feature these dedicated, heroic, and adrenaline-seeking first-responders saving lives in the difficult and often life-threatening conditions of Hawaii's Seven Mile Miracle. Kester wrote several episodes, and Wells directed the first two episodes.

Rescue: HI-Surf is co-produced by Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment. Matt Kester serves as creator, executive producer, and showrunner. John Wells serves as executive producer through John Wells Productions alongside JWP's Erin Jontow. Daniele Nathanson also serves as an executive producer.

A post-screening Q&A with series cast including Robbie Magasiva ("Harlan Jennings 'Sonny'"), Arielle Kebbel (Emily Wright 'Em'"), Kekoa Scott Kekumano ("Laka Hanohano"), Alex Aiono ("Kainalu") and Zoe Cipres ("Hina") will follow. Mona Kosar Abdi, Senior Correspondent and weekend co-host, Extra will moderate.

The Sex Lives of College Girls will screen at Emerson College to celebrate the release of its upcoming third season streaming this November on Max.

Created by Emmy®-nominated writer/producer Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, The Sex Lives of College Girls follows a group of college students at New England's prestigious Essex College. Executive produced by Kaling, showrunner Noble, and Howard Klein, the series is produced by Kaling International and 3 Arts Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television.

A post-screening Q&A with Justin Noble (Co-Creator, Executive Producer and Showrunner), Sarah Tapscott (Co-Executive Producer/Writer), Beth Appel (Co-Producer/Writer), Caroline Goldfarb (Co-Executive Producer/Writer), Liz Barnes (Casting Director) will follow.

The 40th Boston Film Festival live program runs from September 19 - 23.
